Heaven on Earth in the Vermaning Zaandam
The Medtner Project will present the programme ‘Heaven on Earth’ in the Nieuwe Huys concert series in Zaandam on 13 April 2024. The repertoire includes songs by Rachmaninoff and Medtner.
Songs to famous Russian and German poetry and incomarable vocalises. Also special are Pushkin’s poems, set to music by the two composers in their own way.
Rachmaninoff and Medtner were not only great piano virtuosos and grand masters of Russian late romanticism, they were also soulmates. And both gave voice to the unsayable.
In this full-length concert, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Levental and pianist Frank Peters explore what moved both composers, their ideals and inspiration, and how they shaped that heaven on earth.
